Our next walk is on Sunday, 21st of January when we will be taking a new route on an old favourite… Slieve Gullion.
We will take in Killeavy Old Churches, St. Monninna’s or Bline’s Well and then after a bit of a pull up onto the summit, the North Cairn and the Calliagh Berra’s Lake, before descending by “the wire” and back to the cars.
It will be a 4+ hours walk, and on rough open hillside, all walkers will need as a minimum, walking boots and a waterproof jacket. Expect rough, boggy terrain so gaiters and walking poles are recommended. Remember it will be considerably colder at the summit so layer up and don’t forget gloves and a hat.
Meet at the Gap O’ the North Pub, Jonesborough at 10 am, car pooling will be a necessity as there is limited parking at our starting point. Bring a packed lunch.
We will be in 2 Groups, routes are similar but pace will greatly differ. New walkers are very welcome to join us, but must walk with our C Group for their first walk. Check out our FAQ page on our website, for information about fitness, kit etc.
