HAPPY CHRISTMAS 🌲🍷

All at the Gap O’ the North Hill Walking Club would like to take this opportunity to wish our Members and friends a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas and Best Wishes for an active 2022.

We have ‘members only’ Christmas walk at 10am at Gap O’ the North Pub, on 28th of December.

Will be lovely to see everyone on the hills and get out after all the eating and drinking (maybe make room for more!!😋)

Bring your Christmas hat,  a packed lunch, hot drink and water proofs.

Forkhill Mountain 2021

This Sunday, 14th of November we are staying local and walking in the Forkhill area on Croslieve. Great views of the area and lots of geological and historical interest, with: a glacial erratic, Jackson’s Folly, Glendesha Mass Rock and old cottages!

If you’d like to join us, we meet at 10 am in the Gap O’ the North Pub, Jonesborough, for a walks/safety briefing and to car pool.

All walkers must have walking boots, a waterproof jacket and a packed lunch. Your first walk with us is free, thereafter membership is £20 or 25 Euros for the year.

Slieve Gullion Walk

Slieve Gullion Walk

We had one  group out on Slieve Gullion yesterday and it was a glorious day so lots of photographs!

We are so lucky to have this resource on our doorstep and as a group we continue to work to leave the hills cleaner than we find them… We collected 2 bags of litter but unfortunately, sleeping bags and a tent left on the top have blown into the lake and despite Margaret’s heroic efforts, were just too far out of reach for us to retrieve. Check out the photos.

Please if you carry it up, take it home again!!!

We will be back out in 2 weeks and with the Gap O’ The North, Beer Garden now open for “after walk refreshments”  it is beginning to feel like a return to normality is not far off. Watch this space….
